At home I’m not that big of a coffee drinker. Don’t get me wrong, I like coffee but I love góód coffee and for some reason our coffee at home is just meh. But when Joppe made me some Cold Brew Coffee, I completely fell in love. This stuff is amazing! It’s tasty and fresh and a nice change of your normal cup o’ coffee. With these five quick steps and just five ingredients you can easily make it yourself. It’s truly a perfect drink for the summer!
Cold Brew Coffee tastes extra good when you add some milk and sugar, especially because it isn’t your traditional coffee. But because sugar doesn’t dissolve in a cold drink, the best solution is to use simple syrup. This is, as the name might suggest, really simple to make. As the last step of this recipe, I’ve added my way of making simple syrup. By the way, this is not only ideal for cold brew coffee but also a lifesaver if you want to make cocktails and want your sugar dissolved.
Note: For the Cold Brew Coffee the ratio of coffee to water is 1:3. Easy to remember and in this way you can always make a little bit more.
Cold Brew Coffee
- Coffee beans
- Ice cubes
- Simple syrup See the description below
- Grind the beans, keep them a little bit rough. Measure the amount of beans you've made in a mug or glass. Transfer them to a jug.
- Measure three times the amount of water and add it to the coffee grind.
- Cover the jug with a tea cloth and place it to rest overnight. It's best to let it sit on your counter, it really helps *oomphf the flavour.
- The day after, filter your coffee with a coffee filter or grab a sieve which you cover with a cloth and pour your coffee through this "filter" in another jug.
- Grab a big glass and fill it halfway with your cold brew coffee. Add some ice cubes and pour in simple syrup and a little bit of milk. Enjoy!
