At the moment that people around you are calling you the ‘Queen of the Beergarten’ you know what time it is. So it kinda seemed appropriate to share my 5 favourite beer gardens in Berlin with you.

Beer gardens in Berlin

One of my favourite things about Berlin is how good you can spend your days outside: parks, beach bars and beer gardens, they all make life in Berlin even more amazing. And in case you think beer gardens exist only of big beer mugs, German bratwursten, dirndls and drunk shouting you’re in for a big surprise! The beer gardens in Berlin are perfect to enjoy a beer in the summer sun.

During our two years in Berlin, we’ve visited loads of them. Some were immediate favourites and in others we only drank one beer before we went to another one. My five favourite beer gardens I’ll share with you, perfect if you visit Berlin!

Cassiopeia

An old favourite that we still visit quite often is Cassiopeia. Located at the RAW Gelände it’s quite a special one. In the middle of the garden you can find an old water tower that’s now being used as a climbing wall, in the back you can find a skate hall and the garten is often decor for an open air cinema during the summer. But that’s not all… Cassiopeia is, during the whole year, also an amazing concert venue!

Schleusenkrug

Schleusenkrug might be the most touristy beer gardens that you’ll find in my list but that doesn’t mean it’s less great. This beer garden, which is a lot bigger than it seems, is thanks to it’s location close to the Landwehr Canal and at the end of Tiergarten the perfect ending after a summer walk.

Kurhaus Ponte Rosa

This beer garden is seriously a hidden gem. I’ve never heard of it before we moved to our new house but since we did it’s become one of our go-to places each summer night. Ponte Rosa isn’t visited by tourists at all, guests are mostly residents enjoying their warm evenings and a good pizza.

Birgit & Bier

My newest and one of my most beloved beer gardens. Two friends celebrated their birthday at Birgit & Bier and it was my first time visiting this miraculous place. Can you still remember the blogpost I wrote a couple of years ago about Ruin Pubs in Budapest? Birgit & Bier reminded me of that feeling, walking around a bar that has so many hidden nooks and corners that you don’t know where to look. You could explore this bar for ages and ages.

Rosi’s

Rosi’s could be seen as a small version of Birgit & Bier. The garden opens in May but throughout the whole year Rosi’s is a club with different rooms with different parties and dj’s. But their garden completes the whole vibe.

Of course there are also the bigger, more famous beer gardens like Prater in Prenzlauerberg or Cafe am Neuen See in Tiergarten, but I like the smaller, cuter venues with more of a festival feeling.
